Staff Summary
• Lake County, as a recipient of CDBG and other federal funds, is required to “affirmatively further fair housing” under the federal Fair Housing Act.
• The 2015 publication of the federal Final Rule on Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) changed the schedule and content of periodic countywide studies: The requirement to complete an “Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice” (AI) will transition by August 1, 2019 to an “Assessment of Fair Housing” (AFH).
• Prairie State Legal Services (PSLS), the manager of Lake County’s Fair Housing Project, will make a presentation on the new rule, its impact on Lake County, and a sneak peek at the new HUD internet-based fair housing data mapping tool.
