Staff Summary
This past spring, Senator Adriane Johnson worked to secure $1,500,000 in funds towards an operating grant for Lake County State's Attorney's Office from IDHS for the Gun Violence Prevention Initiative.
Funding was appropriated through the State of Illinois for a twelve-month period of July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.
LCSAO will use these funds to cover 100 percent of the salary and benefits of the four Gun Violence Prevention Initiative (GVPI) staff, printed materials and other outreach supplies and a subaward to the Waukegan Township for the GVPI Peacemaker services.
If funding for the positions and services end, and new funding is not secured, the positions and services will be eliminated.
