Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center (LCHD/CHC) received an increase in grant funding through the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), Special Supplemental Nutrition, and Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program in the amount of $97,909. The period of performance is July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. The amount requested to be appropriated in LCFY24 is $40,795. The difference has been accounted for in the LCFY25 budget. The funding is intended to provide supplemental food, assistance, and nutrition education to low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age five. This will fund a new Public Health Assistant, indirect costs, and offset existing staff salary and fringe benefits.
