WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is making available some $1 billion for the Community Development Block Grant Recovery Program (CDBG-R) as part of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA); and
WHEREAS, Lake County is eligible to receive $691,361 for community development activities if the County submits a substantial amendment to its 2008 Annual Action Plan; and
WHEREAS, the activities eligible under CDBG-R are nearly identical in nature to the normal CDBG program; and
WHEREAS, projects that would qualify for CDBG-R assistance would meet a goal in Lake County’s 2005-2009 Housing & Community Development Consolidated Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Chairman of the Lake County Board or her designee is hereby authorized to execute the necessary documents to submit a substantial amendment to its 2008 Annual Action Plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the Community Development Block Grant Recovery Program.
