Staff Summary
· The counties of Cook and Lake are part of a collaborative effort to obtain digital aerial orthoimagery in FY 2009.
· The information obtained will provide consistent contemporaneous digital aerial coverage for Northeast Illinois that will support several regional applications including homeland security, emergency services, environmental planning and others consistent with Lake County’s GIS program and will facilitate greater cooperation among the governments of Northeast Illinois.
· Through participation in this program, costs to Lake County will be an amount of not to exceed $140,899, saving $39,000.

WHEREAS, the counties of Cook and Lake, are part of a collaborative effort to obtain digital aerial orthoimagery in 2009; and
WHEREAS, the joint participation of these counties has made it possible to proceed with this important project at substantial cost savings while still meeting each participant’s specifications; and
WHEREAS, this information will provide consistent contemporaneous digital aerial coverage for Northeast Illinois that will support a number of regional applications including homeland security, drainage studies, emergency services, transportation and environmental planning and others consistent with Lake County's GIS program and will facilitate greater cooperation among the governments of Northeast Illinois; and
WHEREAS, a Statement of Work, a copy of which is attached hereto and part hereof, has been finalized; and
WHEREAS, funding for digital orthoimagery already exists in the budget of the GIS Division of the Information Technology Department; and
WHEREAS, the County of Cook has agreed to manage this project.
