Staff Summary
• In 2024, Lake County staff launched the Tree Planting program, an American Rescue Plan Act-Local Fiscal Recovery Funds program for divisions of local government to improve their stormwater management systems by planting new trees.
• By participating in the program, publicly maintained and publicly accessible lands received free native trees from local nurseries planted on qualified sites by a tree planting crew and shared educational outreach materials with residents about the importance of urban forestry in Lake County.
• $2,500,000 in ARPA funds planted over 2,400 full-sized native trees for 38 project sites across 19 local government organizations in Lake County.
