· The county has been allocated Federal Highway Bridge Program (HBP) funds to repair this bridge and IDOT administers all federal funds.
· Phase I preliminary engineering is being expanded to include a bridge scour analysis and an asbestos verification and associated reporting.
· This Amendment #1 to the Phase 1 agreement provides for the county to receive 80% reimbursement for the additional cost of Phase I.

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Arlington Heights Road (County Highway 79) is a designated route on the county highway system; and
WHEREAS, the bridge deck beams of the bridge carrying northbound Arlington Heights Road over Buffalo Creek are at the end of their useful service life; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the motoring public if said bridge deck beams could be replaced; and
WHEREAS, Phase I studies are required to utilize federal highway funds for the above-proposed improvements; and
WHEREAS, the County Board of Lake County, Illinois at its meeting of August 12, 2008 authorized the execution of an agreement for these federal highway funds between the State of Illinois and Lake County for federal reimbursement of 80% of the Phase I engineering services (Preliminary Engineering) for said improvement; and
