Willow Lawn Memorial Park Conditional Use Permit Amendment

 

Staff Summary

•                     Willow Lawn Memorial Park is an existing cemetery located at 24100 US Highway 45 in unincorporated Vernon Township.

•                     In 2001, the property owner was granted an Administrative Conditional Use Permit to operate a cemetery on this property.

•                     Richard Kile, on behalf of StoneMar (the current property owners), has requested an amendment to the Conditional Use Permit to allow the construction of a memorial garden increasing the impervious surface by 0.06 acre.

•                     Article 3.6.10 of the Lake County Unified Development Ordinance states that, “The Planning, Building, and Zoning Committee shall be authorized to allow establishment of accessory uses and structures.”

•                     Staff recommends approval of this request given that the proposal is accessory to the cemetery and modest in scale.
