Staff Summary

•                     New regulations added to implement the new military leave entitlements enacted under the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2008.

•                     Updates made to FMLA required the County to update existing Policy  4.8 Leaves of Absence  in order to clarify the rights and responsibilities under the Family and Medical Leave Act for the County and their employees.

Body

WHEREAS, the Department of Labor published new Family and Medical Leave Act regulations and updates effective January 16, 2009;

WHEREAS, new regulations added the new military leave entitlements enacted under the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2008;

WHEREAS, updates that were made to the Family and Medical Leave Act require the County to update existing Policy 4.8 Leaves of Absence.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the revisions to Policy 4.8 Leaves of Absence is hereby authorized.
