Joint resolution authorizing an increase in the budgeted number of full-time equivalent positions in the Chief County Assessment Office from 20 to 22.
Staff Summary
· The Chief County Assessment Office has realized a 50% increase in case filings for 2011 as compared to 2010.
· It is anticipated that 2012 case filings will continue to trend significantly higher than previous years.
· In order to respond to the increased work load, the Chief County Assessment Office requests two additional Senior Clerk positions (pay grade 6) be hired and paid an annual salary of $27,241.
· The total cost for the two positions including fringes benefits will be $31,570 for the remainder of the fiscal year.

WHEREAS, The Chief County Assessment Office has developed a recommendation to increase the number of FTEs in the Assessment Office specifically to address the increase in tax assessment appeals; and
WHEREAS, the Chief County Assessment Office has realized a 50% increase in case filings for 2011 as compared to 2010; with the anticipation that 2012 case filings will be the same if not higher; and
WHEREAS, the Chief County Assessor has developed a recommendation to create a two (2) full-time regular Senior Clerk positions (pay grade 6); and
WHEREAS, as a result of the new positions cost will increase by $31,570 (includes wages and fringe benefits) for the remainder of the 2012 fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, County Board approval is required to authorize an increase in the number of Full time Equivalent positions in the Chief County Assessment Office from twenty (20) to twenty-two (22).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County Illinois, the number of Full- Time equivalent positions in the Chief County Assessment Office will be increased by two (2) positions so that the total of FTEs will be twenty-two (22).
