Staff Summary
* Lake County has executed the final contract renewal term for through March of 2017 for its existing contract for natural gas transportation and management services at a rate of .33 cents per therm at an estimated annual cost savings of $313,500.
* The natural gas market is currently at historically low levels for pricing due to surplus in current storage levels and a mild winter.
* Staff has identified a joint purchasing opportunity through a recently awarded contract by Cook County that would enable us to remain with our current vendor and lock in a rate for fiscal years 2017 and 2018 at the current market price.
* Pursuant to Article 10-101 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, Cooperative Purchasing, Lake County may participate in a cooperative purchasing agreement for the procurement with one or more public procurement units in accordance with an agreement entered into between the participants.
* This resolution authorizes the Purchasing Agent to request market pricing for natural gas transportation and management services for a 24 month period beginning April 2017 through March 2019.

WHEREAS, Lake County has executed the final contract renewal term for through March of 2017 for its existing contract for natural gas transportation and management services at a rate of .33 cents per therm and
WHEREAS, the natural gas market is currently at historically low levels for pricing due to surplus in current storage levels and a mild winter; and
