· The Illinois State Legislature has enacted legislation which authorizes counties to impose a court document storage fee of as much as $15 to be charged and collected by the Clerk of the Circuit Court as specified in 705 ILCS 105/27.3c.
· The purpose of the document storage fee is to defray the expense of storage and retrieval of court documents in the Offices of the Clerk of the Circuit Court.
· For the Lake County Circuit Court Clerk, the current document storage fee, which was established in 1992, is $5.
· The Circuit Court Clerk wishes to increase the document storage fee to $10, effective January 1, 2011 to defray the increasing costs of expenses related to the storage and retrieval of court documents in the Offices of the Clerk of the Circuit Court.

WHEREAS, Illinois statutes (705 ILCS 105/27.3c) authorize circuit court clerks to establish a court services fee to defray the costs of court security of as much as $15; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the document storage fee is to defray the expense of storage and retrieval of court documents in the Offices of the Clerk of the Circuit Court; and
WHEREAS, the document storage fee for Lake County, which was established in 1992, is currently $5; and
WHEREAS, the Circuit Court Clerk wishes to increase the document storage fee to $10, effective January 1, 2011, to defray the increasing costs of expenses related to the storage and retrieval of court documents in the Offices of the Clerk of the Circuit Court.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that effective January 1, 2011, the ORDINANCE ENACTING A DOCUMENT STORAGE FEE is hereby amended as follows:
Section III - APPLICATION
A. The document storage fee collected by the Lake County Circuit Court Clerk shall be increased from $5 to $10.
