Staff Summary
• The Health Department received $15,000 in a new grant funding for the period of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, which was not previously appropriated because the grant resources were secured after the County’s adoption of the FY 2024 budget.
• The purpose of this funding is to distribute naloxone to reverse opioid overdoses, distribute fentanyl and xylazine test strips, and provide training on overdose prevention and naloxone use.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Lake County Health Department and Community Health Center has received a grant increase delivered by our Prevention Unit; and
WHEREAS, these dollars will provide an increase in services to Lake County with no impact on local taxes; and
WHEREAS, this grant amount totaling $15,000 has not been previously appropriated, having been awarded after adoption of the Fiscal Year 2024 budget; and
WHEREAS, the proposed appropriation will be fully offset by the above referenced items thereby not requiring the expenditure of local tax revenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that an emergency appropriation in the amount of $15,000 is hereby authorized in the Health Department fiscal year 2024 budget as identified on the listing of expense and revenue budget modifications attached hereto and made part hereof; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the revenue budgets as identified on the attached listing be modified as provided by increased funding from the following:
Illinois Department of Public Health - Comprehensive Health Protection Grant - Opioid Overdose Prevention, $15,000.
