* Lake County was awarded $4,000,000 in Community Project Funds through Congressman Schneider for the Cedar Lake Road Realignment Project, which are administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
* This agreement will allow Lake County to utilize these funds for the acquisition of necessary right-of-way for this project.
* This project is included in the Transportation Improvement Program with construction anticipated to begin in 2028 and designated as Section 02-00065-01-FP.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Cedar Lake Road, County Highway 28, is a designated route on the county highway system; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County believe it would be beneficial to the safety and welfare of the traveling public if Cedar Lake Road, from Hart Road to Nippersink Road, could be improved, inclusive of non-motorized improvements; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois and Lake County are desirous of entering into an agreement to utilize up to $4,000,000 of federal highway funds for the acquisition of necessary right-of-way, by agreement or condemnation, and other right-of-way costs associated with the above referenced improvement, a draft copy of which is attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, the County Board of Lake County, Illinois, at its June 9, 2026 meeting, appropriated $9,600,000 of Motor Fuel Tax Funds for the acquisition of necessary right-of-way.
