Staff Summary
· Lake County currently leases 12,350 sq. ft. in Suites 104 & 106 at 415 Washington St., Waukegan, IL to house elections equipment and supplies for the Lake County Clerk.
· The current lease agreement expires on January 31, 2011 and it has been determined that there continues to be a need for this space by the Lake County Clerk’s Office.
· Lake County has negotiated favorable terms for a five-year lease extension which includes a 3% decrease in lease payments for 2011 which will result in a rate of $14.09 per sq. ft. in 2011 and 2012.
· The total costs are as follows: $174,000 for a two-year period charging the costs thereof to 101-1220010-72510-049; $180,000 for the remaining three year period of the lease extension for use as determined by the Lake County Clerk.

WHEREAS, the current lease agreement for office and storage space utilized to house and store elections equipment by the Lake County Clerk’s Office expires on January 31, 2011; and
WHEREAS, the County Clerk and the Department of Finance and Administrative Services have determined the continued need for 12,350 sq. ft of space to house and store elections equipment and supplies; and
WHEREAS, the County has been able to negotiate a favorable rate of $14.09 per sq. ft. for gross space leased at 415 Washington Street, Waukegan, IL.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Chairman of the Board be authorized to execute the attached lease amendment for Suite 104 and Suite 006 for 12,350 sq, ft in the amount of $14.09 per square foot totaling $174,000 per year plus renewals for a period of 5 years charging the costs thereof to account 101-122001...
