Staff Summary
· This resolution recognizes that the three members of the Board of Review need additional assistance to complete the 2013 tax year hearings.
· This action must be done to allow the County Board Chair to appoint alternate members.
Body
WHEREAS, Illinois Law (35 ILCS 200/6-25) provides that when the number of complaints filed with the board of review has created an emergency situation the County Board may, by Resolution, expand the board of review; and
WHEREAS, the Clerk of the Board of Review has determined that the number of appeals filed with the Lake County Board of Review has created the need for an expanded Board of Review to hear said appeals; and
WHEREAS, the County Board must declare that said number of appeals constitutes an emergency situation causing the need for this expanded Board of Review; and
WHEREAS, under this situation, the Chairman of the Board may appoint additional qualified members to the Board of Review.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the number of appeals filed annually with the Board of Review creates an emergency situation and causes a need for an expanded Board of Review; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the said additional members for an expanded Board of Review shall be the persons appointed by the Chairman of the Board from the list of people qualified by virtue of their having passed the State Board of Review examination and as recommended by the Board of Review; and
