Staff Summary
* Pursuant to 55 ILCS 5/4-10001, the County Board sets the compensation for elected officials not less than six months before those officials take office.
* Based on the election cycle of certain officials it is necessary to set compensation for the County Clerk, Regional Superintendent of Schools, Sheriff, Treasurer, County Board Members and the County Board Chair.
* The resolution reflects changes to the future year compensation based on the County Elected Official Compensation policy, adopted by the Lake County Board on April 9, 2024.
* Staff made revisions based on discission at the April 30, 2026 Financial and Administrative Committee meeting.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Illinois Law provides that the County Board shall fix the compensation of Countywide elected officials; and
WHEREAS, Illinois Law provides that the County Board shall set the compensation for elected officials not less than six months before those officials take office; and
WHEREAS, it is now necessary to set the compensation for the County Clerk, Regional Superintendent of Schools, Sheriff, and Treasurer for fiscal years 2027 through 2030; and
WHEREAS, based on the election cycle, it is now necessary to set the compensation for County Board Members and for the County Board Chair; and
WHEREAS, the compensation provided below is established per the County Board's County Elected Official Compensation Policy, adopted on April 9, 2024, by the Lake County Board; and
WHEREAS, a 3 percent increase was used that is consistent with the County Board approved increase for non-union employees in the Fiscal Year 2026 Approved Annual Budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the annual salary for the County Clerk and the Treasurer shall be as follows for the fiscal years indicated:
