Staff Summary
* The current Lake County Department of Public Works administrative building does not adequately meet the needs of the department. This project installs a sprinkler system to bring the entire building up to current life safety standards, modernizes the heating, ventilation, and cooling system to improve the efficiency, and adds 2,393 square feet of new administrative office space to improve the functionality of the building.
* The County received bids from ten contractors for a total construction cost for the project ranging from $1,744,500 to $2,304,000.
* Award of this contract is recommended to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Stuckey Construction Co., Inc. of Waukegan, Illinois, who best meets the needs of the County in the amount of $1,744,500.
* The accepted bid amount exceeds the FY25 budget primarily due to the necessity of adding fire suppression throughout the entire building and previously unforeseen HVAC improvements.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the current Lake County Public Works administration building does not adequately meet the needs of the department and work will be performed to add a sprinkler system, modernizes the heating, ventilation, and cooling system, and improve the functionality of the building; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, bids were called for by publication for the Public Works Administrative Office Addition and Sprinkler Installation, Lake County received and opened ten bids for the project in the amount of $1,744,500 to $2,304,000; and

WHEREAS, as part of the Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Process and Capital Improvement Plan, the Public Works Administrative Office Addition was approved; and
