Staff Summary
* The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) realigned the intersection of Illinois Route 131 at Kenosha Road with turn lanes and a new traffic signal.
* The County Board, at its meeting on February 14, 2017, approved an agreement with IDOT and appropriated $1,295,000 of 1/4% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for the County's share of this improvement.
* The total project cost is $3,787,098 and the County's share is $1,467,511.
* The increase in the County's share is due to the initial bid prices being higher than estimated and additional removal of unsuitable soils along Kenosha Road.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Kenosha Road, County Highway 53, is a designated route on the county highway system; and

WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) realigned the intersection of Illinois Route 131 at Kenosha Road with added turn lanes and a new traffic signal; and

WHEREAS, these improvements are beneficial to the safety and welfare of the State of Illinois and County as a whole; and

WHEREAS, at its meeting on February 14, 2017, the County Board approved an agreement with IDOT and appropriated $1,295,000 of 1/4% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for the County's share of this improvement; and

WHEREAS, a supplemental appropriation of funds is required to pay the final invoice from the IDOT for the County's local share.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that there is hereby appropriated a supplemental amount of $172,511 of 1/4% Sales Tax for Transportation funds for these intersection improvements, and designated as Section 17-00125-06-CH.
