RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Steven W. Mandel was elected to the Lake County Board and the Lake County Forest Preserve District Board in 2012; and
WHEREAS, Steven W. Mandel's commitment to his community began in 1993 when he was elected as a Councilman at the City of Highland Park; and
WHEREAS, as County Board Member, Steven W. Mandel has served on various committees including as member of the Health and Community Services Committee, the Financial and Administrative Committee and the Rules Committee; and
WHEREAS, Steven W. Mandel served the Lake County Forest Preserve District Board as a member of its Legislative Committee and its Land Acquisition Committee; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure on the County Board, Steven W. Mandel has played a vital role in promoting practices focused on sustainability and environmental preservation in Lake County, including serving as a board member for the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County; and
WHEREAS, in 2015, Steven W. Mandel championed a resolution opposing the construction of a nuclear waste repository in the Great Lakes Basin in order to work with other government agencies to protect the Great Lakes, an irreplaceable natural resource; and
WHEREAS, Steven W. Mandel has also been an advocate for fiscal responsibility and strong budget principles that have helped to preserve the financial stability of the County; and
WHEREAS, Steven W. Mandel has been an advocate for providing services to citizens in an efficient and cost effective manner, he has supported shared services initiatives among county departments and neighboring communities, in addition to focusing on data driven decisions to create efficiencies in County operations; and
WHEREAS, Steven W. Mandel's service to his community includes membership in the Sierra Club, Highland Park Historical Society and Ravinia Neighbors Association; and
