Joint resolution approving an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) for contractual police services by and among the Beach Park School District #3, Lake County, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) in the estimated amount of $127,138.
Staff Summary
Beach Park School District #3, and the LCSO entered an IGA for a police/school resource officer program since 2016 to provide police services in the form of a police/school resource officer (SRO) at the Beach Park Middle School.
The main objectives in having an SRO are to develop a positive relationship between law enforcement and the students, effectively deal with juvenile offenses/issues and to protect students and the school from violations of the law.
The term of this agreement is for three years, beginning August 1, 2026, and ending July 31, 2029.
The contract includes one SRO working each day while school is in session.
The Beach Park School District #3 will reimburse the cost of the SRO position for hours worked as the SRO, with the officer assigned to other duties during the remaining hours.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Beach Park School District #3, has determined that it would be in the best interest of the Beach Park Middle School #3, to renew a Contractual Services Agreement with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for a Police Services/School Resource Officer (SRO) Program; and
WHEREAS, Beach Park School District #3, agrees to reimburse the cost of the Police Services/SRO Program for the hours worked during the duration of this agreement; and
WHEREAS, said Agreement formalizes the arrangement regarding the deployment of a Police Services/SRO at the Beach Park Middle School from August 2026 – July 2029; and
WHEREAS, the County and the Sheriff are proposing the below listed rate for SRO services:
