Report to Committee on Villages of Mettawa and Long Grove Request for Lake Michigan Water.
Staff Summary
• Both the Village of Mettawa and the Village of Long Grove have made a request to the County to extend water service from our Lake Michigan water systems to serve portions of their Villages.
• The Mettawa request includes 227 properties scattered around the Village. Mettawa would be served by an extension of the County’s Knollwood water system.
• The Long Grove request includes 122 properties within the Heron’s Landing subdivision located on Port Clinton Road just west of Route 83. Heron’s Landing would be served by an extension of the County’s Vernon Hills water system.
• Both Mettawa and Long Grove have indicated they would fund the necessary extensions and improvements of their water systems through a Special Service Area.
• This item is scheduled to go before the CLCJAWA Executive Committee at their January 14, 2010 meeting at 8:30 a.m.
