Staff Summary
· Lake County EMA, in consultation with Lake County Public Works, applied to host part of a planned statewide emergency generator cache, and has been selected as one of several host jurisdictions across the state.
· The Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) will administer the purchase of the generators and the delivery of those generators to host jurisdictions, using funds awarded through the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Illinois Terrorism Task Force, and US Department of Homeland Security.
· The trailer-mounted generators will become the property of Lake County, and will be titled and licensed to Lake County.
· The generators will be for public uses and can be sought by communities in disaster situations to provide power for public facilities.
· Grant funds will provide maintenance for the generators for at least several years.
· When not in use by Lake County agencies, the generators must be available on a mutual aid basis to help other jurisdictions through the coordination of Lake County and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency.

WHEREAS, Lake County, through the Lake County Emergency Management Agency and Lake County Public Works Department, applied and has been selected to be a host jurisdiction for several trailer-mounted emergency electric generators as part of a statewide cache of similar generators; and

WHEREAS, Lake County has an approved Emergency Operations Plan and Emergency Operations Center which are tools to support collaborative response to emergencies and disasters of all causes; and

WHEREAS, the Lake County Public Works Department plays an important role in preparing for and responding to emergencies and disasters within the County; and
