• On March 13, 2023, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed the Paid Leave for All Workers Act (PLAWA) into law, guaranteeing all workers in the state of Illinois up to 40 hours of paid time off each year for any reason.
• The Paid Leave for All Workers Act (PLAWA) law goes into effect on January 1, 2024.
• Staff presented revisions/implementations of the Vacation and Paid Leave Time Policy to the County Board on November 30, 2023.
• This Policy primarily affects Part-Time (under 20 hours) and Temporary/Seasonal Employees.
• An amendment was made at the December 12, 2023 County Board Meeting to amend the language in sections 1.j. and 2.a.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Human Resources Department will implement the Paid Leave for All Workers Act to employee policies in accordance with the law; and
WHEREAS, the County’s revised Vacation and Paid Leave Time Policy includes language which informs Part-Time (under 20 hours) and Temporary/Seasonal Employees of the Act; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois that the revisions to the Vacation and Paid Leave Time Policy, in the Employee Policies and Procedures manual herewith be approved; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Human Resources Director is directed to implement these Policy revisions upon adoption by the Board.
