Joint resolution accepting the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) grant for workforce funds and approving an emergency appropriation to accept an additional $253,739 for fiscal year (FY) 2016.
Staff Summary
* The Disability Employment Initiative (DEI) grant has been awarded to Lake County Workforce Development to improve employer access to skilled workers with disabilities through the Job Center and throughout Lake County.
* An additional $6,200 has been awarded to purchase accessibility furniture, software and equipment to better serve the job seekers who have a disability.
* The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Rapid Response grant and grant modification of $225,789 is for personnel related expenditures to provide case management to the unemployed individuals certified as eligible under the Trade Act and enrolled in occupational training as well as additional funds for transportation assistance while attending training.
* The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) grant modification of $21,750 increases the grant budget to support costs associated with payment processing for the training and transportation assistance to the unemployed individuals certified as eligible under the Trade Act and enrolled in occupational training.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, DCEO has awarded additional grant funds of $6,200 to the DEI grant; and
WHEREAS, DCEO has awarded additional WIA Rapid Response grant funds of $225,789; and
WHEREAS, DCEO has awarded additional TAA grant funds of $21,750; and
WHEREAS, an emergency appropriation in the amount of $253,739 is requested to allocate these funds into the Workforce Department's FY2016 budget and authorize acceptance of this grant modification.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a FY2016 emergency appropriation in the amount of $253,739 for the Workforce Development Department is hereby approved and that the DCEO grant be accepted...
