Ordinance amending a previous ordinance designating the voting sites assigned to 57 of the 431 precincts in Lake County Townships.
Staff Summary
* After reviewing voting sites for the March 19, 2024 General Primary Election, voting site changes are proposed to provide better locations due to the reorganization of precinct assignments, consolidation of polling places, site accessibility, construction projects and polling site requests.
* This proposal re-assigns each precinct to a newly identified appropriate voting site which has sufficient parking and voting space as well as full accessibility for all voters.
* An amendment was made at the December 7, 2023 Financial and Administrative Committee meeting to update language in the 5th Whereas of the Ordinance.

ORDINANCE
WHEREAS, Lake County has 431 voting precincts in 18 townships; and
WHEREAS, for Antioch Township precincts 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 & 13, Antioch Public Library will replace Antioch Community High School due to consolidation of polling places; and
WHEREAS, for Avon Township precincts 20 and 21, New Hope Christian Community replaces Beach Haven Tower due to consolidation of polling places. For precincts 27 and 28, New Hope Christian Community replaces Round Lake Area Public Library due to reorganization of precinct assignments; and
WHEREAS, for Benton Township precincts: 60, 61, 62, 63, 64 and 65, ThunderHawk Golf Club replaces Kenneth Murphy Elementary School due to accessibility; and
WHEREAS, for Lake Villa Township precincts 152 and 153, Lake Villa United Methodist Church replaces Peter J. Palombi Middle School. For precincts 163, 165, 166 and 167, Lake Villa United Methodist Church replaces William L. Thompson School. Both changes due to site requests to discontinue offering their locations as polling places. For precinct 164, New Hope Christian Community replaces William L. Thompson School due to consolidation of polling places and site request; and
