Resolution authorizing amendments to the County Elected Official Compensation Policy.
Staff Summary
* Originally adopted in 2024, this policy established a framework for consistent and equitable compensation levels for Lake County Elected Officials including all County-wide Elected Officials, the County Board Chair and County Board Members.
* The policy stipulates that compensation for each elected official will be increased by the same percentage as the County Board approved percentage for non-union staff in the most recently approved fiscal year budget, in the first possible year when the salary can be increased for all elected officials of the same type.
* At the direction of the Financial and Administrative Committee, staff has drafted amendments to this policy to include that compensation shall also be increased by that same percentage again at the beginning of the third year of four-year terms, for non-board member elected officials.
* Additional amendments were made to clarify the setting of the salary for the Regional Superintendent of Schools and the Sheriff.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the County Board is charged with establishing compensation for County Elected Officials by Illinois Statute; and
WHEREAS, the County Board established a framework for consistent and equitable compensation levels for Lake County Elected Officials including all County-wide Elected Officials, the County Board Chair and County Board Members through the County Elected Official Compensation Policy, approved on April 9, 2024; and
WHEREAS, the policy stipulates that compensation for each elected official will be increased by the same percentage as the County Board approved percentage for non-union staff in the most recently approved fiscal year budget, in the first possible year when the salary can be increased for all elected officials of the same type; and
