WHEREAS, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded $100,000 from the Bureau of Justice Assistance which provides grant monies to local governments to provide financial assistance to meet the requirements of the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards in the Sheriff’s Adult Detention Facility; and
WHEREAS, no match is required to obtain the award; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County,
Illinois, the execution of the Bureau of Justice Assistance grant to establish “Zero Tolerance” Cultures for Sexual Abuse in Local Adult and Juvenile Detention Facilities from the National PREA Resource Center in the amount of $100,000 for the time period of April 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014 is hereby authorized.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Board, the Lake County Sheriff, and the Lake County Treasurer are hereby authorized to execute the necessary documentation in order to accept the grant (grant program agreement to be attached hereto and hereby made a part of this Resolution); and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an emergency appropriation for the grant in the amount is hereby authorized, as follows:
