SPECIAL RECOGNITION

 

WHEREAS, on Holocaust Remembrance Day, Lake County stands in solidarity with Jews in the United States and around the world to remember the estimated six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and millions of other innocent victims of Nazi persecution; and

 

WHEREAS, in Lake County, we honor the memories of those lives lost and embrace the survivors of the Holocaust, who embody extraordinary resiliency; and

 

WHEREAS, we recognize the pain the survivors carry, support them and ensure their memories and experiences of the Holocaust are never denied and the lessons for current and future generations are never forgotten; and

 

WHEREAS, the Days of Remembrance also offer an opportunity to reflect on the need for respect of all people; and

 

WHEREAS, residents should always remember the terrible events of the Holocaust and remain vigilant against hatred, persecution, and tyranny.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, the Lake County Board recognizes April 28, 2022 as Holocaust Remembrance Day and April 24, 2022 through May 1, 2022 as the Days of Remembrance of Victims of the Holocaust and asks residents to remember the victims, survivors, rescuers and liberators of the Holocaust as well as work together to promote human dignity and confront hate whenever and wherever it occurs.
