Special recognition of June 2024 as Immigrant Heritage Month.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, the President of the United States of America signed a law designating June as Immigrant Heritage Month in May 2022; and
WHEREAS, the United States of America is a nation of immigrants who have come to the United States from every country in the world to live and build their lives over four centuries; and
WHEREAS; immigrants have defined the character of our country and influenced it from every walk of life from a vast number of cultures worldwide; and
WHEREAS, Lake County recognizes the valuable contributions that immigrants provide to virtually every aspect of American history and society, including medicine, science, law, business, education, technology, government, military service, culture; and
WHEREAS, immigration and diversity are essential and fundamental elements to our social fabric, and cultural growth; and
WHEREAS, the vast contributions, achievements, and experiences of immigrant families have helped to make Lake County the great place to live, work, and visit that it is today.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RECOGNIZED by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois that June 2024 be observed as Immigrant Heritage Month to recognize the valuable contributions that immigrants have provided to Lake County and all aspects of American history.
