Staff Summary
· RTA: Lake County Northwest Demonstration Project in Antioch, Avon, Grant and Lake Villa Townships
· “New Freedom” grant funds administered by the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) will be used to expand paratransit service in Lake County during the weekdays.
· These funds will be used to expand paratransit service in Lake County to meet the needs of the mobility challenged constituent population in Antioch, Avon, Grant and Lake Villa Townships; this program to be known as the “Lake County Northwest Demonstration Project.”
· A portion of the service will be a flexible route connecting to Metra stations on the North Central Line and Milwaukee District - North Line. The RTA will provide $400,000 of federal “New Freedom” grant funds, over 2 years, for this demonstration project.
· Pace Suburban Bus Division of the RTA will supply 50% of the required local match of this grant (guaranteed for 1 year only at this time) and will coordinate operations of the expanded paratransit program.
· This resolution authorizes the execution of an agreement for these grant funds and appropriates $700,000 of the ¼% sales tax for transportation and public safety funds for the County’s portion of this project and designated as Section 09-00280-01-ES.

WHEREAS, this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, by prior resolution at its meeting of November 14, 2006, adopted a resolution in support of the Lake County Coordinated Transportation Services Committee (LCCTSC) goal to develop a borderless paratransit system service in Lake County to meet the needs of the mobility challenged constituent population; and
