Update regarding the activities of the Des Plaines River Watershed Workgroup (DRWW).
Staff Summary
• The County is a dues paying member of the DRWW with a mission to bring together a diverse coalition of stakeholders, working collectively on improving water quality in the Des Plaines River in a cost effective manner, to meet Illinois Environmental Protection Agency requirements.
• Four County agencies, consisting of Public Works, Storm Water Management, Forest Preserve, and the Division of Transportation, are working closely with other agencies to advance long term strategies and activities of the group.
• This is the second year of activity for the DRWW and a status report of accomplishments is provided periodically to inform stakeholders of recent activities and funding levels.
• A brief overview of accomplishments and activities will be provided by Public Works Director Peter Kolb and Mike Warner, the SMC Administrative Agent for the DRWW.
