SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, Lake County joins the nation to recognize June as National Caribbean American Heritage Month; and
WHEREAS, Caribbean Americans strengthen the community through their vibrant cultures, languages and traditions; and
WHEREAS, Caribbean Americans have contributed greatly to education, fine arts, business, literature, journalism, sports, fashion, politics, government, the military, music, science, technology, and other areas in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Caribbean Americans have played an active role in the civil rights movement and other social and political movements in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Lake County pays tribute to the generations of Caribbean Americans who have enriched America’s history and are instrumental in its future success; and
WHEREAS, we celebrate and honor the invaluable contributions Caribbean Americans have made to help strengthen the nation and the Lake County community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, the Lake County Board recognizes June 2022 as Caribbean American Heritage Month and encourages residents to reflect on and share their contributions, successes and challenges through our history.
