Ratification of Des Plaines River Watershed Workgroup (DRWW) and Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. (Geosyntec) FY2025 Service Order
Staff Summary
• Lake County Stormwater Management Commission (SMC), under an on-going contract with the DRWW, acts as workgroup administrative and fiscal agents; therefore, SMC must ratify the contracts approved by the Workgroup.
• The Service Order is for responding to comments received on DRWW’s Nutrient Assessment Reduction Plan (NARP) Report in the amount of $10,376.00, was approved by the DRWW Executive Board on March 20, 2025, and requires SMC ratification.
• The NARP report was submitted to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by the DRWW and by DRWW Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) members meeting the required special condition in the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits of multiple DRWW members by the December 31, 2023 deadline.
• In 2024, the DRWW received public comments on the NARP submission NARP and at the request of the Illinois EPA approved a service order with Geosyntec to respond to those public comments.
• The funds to pay for workgroup expenses, including these contracts, are revenue from workgroup member dues, not SMC’s levy.
