· The resolution would authorize the execution of an Intergovernmental Agreement with Lake Zurich for an amount not to exceed $100,000 for the project at the former Lake Zurich Police Facility and 911 Center.
Body
WHEREAS, the County is vested under State Statute with authority to protect and clean the environment and the groundwater; and
WHEREAS, the County has established a Brownfield Fund in an intergovernmental effort to reduce environmental contamination and promote the redevelopment of brownfield sites throughout Lake County; and
WHEREAS, guidelines have been approved by which the County can entertain requests from local governments within Lake County for brownfield funds for specific projects within their community; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Lake Zurich has determined that there is a need for environmental remediation at the former Lake Zurich Police Facility and 911 Center, 61 W. Main Street, Lake Zurich, in order to redevelop the downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Lake Zurich has submitted a request for the County’s Brownfield Funds, with said funds to be matched by the Village of Lake Zurich, to be used for environmental cleanup activities that will result in the protection of the groundwater; and
