Staff Summary
· The Lake County DOT is constructing a bike path as part of the Deerfield Road Reconstruction Project.
· The existing Deerfield Road Force Main is in conflict with the proposed bike path and DOT is requiring that we relocate the force main.
· The County received responsive bids from four (4) contractors for this work.
· Award of this contract is recommended to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, RJ Underground, Inc. in the amount of $ 182,871.
· This resolution authorizes the execution of a contract with RJ Underground, Inc., Kenosha, WI in the amount of $ 182,871 for the Deerfield Road Force Main Project.
Body
WHEREAS, the County of Lake (County) owns and operates the Deerfield Road Force Main in the Southeast Lake Facilities Planning Area; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) is widening and reconstructing a portion of Deerfield Road and adding a bike path; and
WHEREAS, a portion of the Deerfield Road Force Main must be relocated because it is in conflict with the proposed LCDOT bike path adjacent to Deerfield Road; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Rules of this County Board, bids were called for by publication for the Deerfield Road Force Main Relocation Project; and
WHEREAS, subsequent to said publication, invitations to bid were extended to seventeen (17) contractors; and
WHEREAS, sealed bids were received and publicly opened in the office of the Public Works Department on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., and the bid prices were as follows:
