Special Recognition Honoring National First Responders Day.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
WHEREAS, National First Responders Day is on October 28 and honors firefighters, law enforcement officers, paramedics, EMTs and those first on the scene in often dangerous and life-threatening situations; and
WHEREAS, an estimated 4.6 million people serve as career and volunteer firefighters, police, emergency medical technicians and paramedics in our country; and
WHEREAS, every day, hundreds of men and women across Lake County put their lives on the line to keep us safe, whether it is firefighters running into burning buildings, police officers and sheriff deputies protecting our communities or emergency medical technicians and paramedics providing emergency care, in what can be hostile and dangerous environments; and
WHEREAS, on July 4, 2022, Lake County saw first-hand, the courage and selfless sacrifices of our first responders, as hundreds of local, regional, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, fire and EMS departments, dispatch centers and volunteers sprang into action, risking their lives to assist amid the deadly mass shooting during the Independence Day Parade in Highland Park; and
WHEREAS, we thank and honor the families of the first responders who continue to make sacrifices on a daily basis so their loved ones can serve the rest of us and keep our communities safe.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RECOGNIZED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois that October 28th is National First Responders Day, and encourages residents to show gratitude to a first responder for their sacrifice, bravery and heroism, and to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
