· The additional position entitled Inventory & Equipment Control Manager will operate an automate inventory control system.
· The new position will relieve the Supervisor of Public Works Maintenance from performing said task and allow more time to the coordination and management of functions in the field.
· This position is recommended to enhance the County’s ability to coordinate the efficient use of resources so that the Department can perform its daily functions and; more effectively comply with auditor recommendations to maintain a detailed inventory system.
· The creation of the new position will result in a $53,778 increase in annual wage expenditure.
· The Public Works Department will be able to fund the increase in expenditure through their departmental budget.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Public Works Director has reviewed the functions of the Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department as a result of operational efficiencies and the need to maintain a detailed account of inventory; and

WHEREAS, as a result of this review, the Public Works Director has developed a recommendation to assign the responsibilities of operating an automated inventory control system to the recommended position so that said task can be performed in a more operationally effective manner; and

WHEREAS, the Inventory & Equipment Control Manager position has been created to assist the Director in maintaining an automated inventory control system that will track the amount of materials and equipment available for Departmental use. An audit recommendation has required the use and maintenance of an automated system to maintain a detailed accounting of inventory; and

WHEREAS, this position is recommended to enhance the County’s ability to coordinate the efficient use of resources in order that the Department can perform its daily functions. In add...
