Staff Summary
·      The Lake County Board adopted the Lake County Liquor Control Ordinance for unincorporated Lake County on February 14, 1984, in which a maximum number of liquor licenses is defined.
·      As recommended by the Liquor Commissioner, the maximum number of liquor licenses was reduced to 117 licenses on August 12, 2014; all of which are currently occupied.
·      Since the August 12th meeting, a reputable small business in Lake County has requested a liquor license.
·      The Liquor Commissioner recommends increasing the inventory of liquor licenses to 118.
 
Body
WHEREAS, the Lake County Board adopted the Lake County Liquor Control Ordinance for unincorporated Lake County on February 14, 1984, in which a maximum number of liquor licenses in defined; and
 
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the people of Lake County for the Liquor Commission to limit the number of liquor license in unincorporated Lake County; and
 
WHEREAS, the Lake County Liquor Control Commissioner had reduced the maximum number of liquor licenses to 117 on August 12, 2014, all of which are currently occupied; and
 
WHEREAS, to promote the growth of a reputable and established small business in Lake County, the Liquor Commissioner recommends increasing the inventory of liquor licenses to 118.
           
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the amendment to the number of licenses available in Lake County Liquor Control Ordinance (attached as "Exhibit A") be adopted and be made effective immediately.
