Staff Summary
• In 2022, Lake County and the City of North Chicago jointly applied for Community Project Funding for the site cleanup at Sheridan Crossing from Congressman Brad Schneider’s Office.
• Lake County was notified on March 3, 2023, that our Community Project Funding was awarded through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
• On March 12, 2024, the Lake County Board authorized the appropriation of $4,000,000 in the Fiscal Year 2024 budget.
• Spending on this grant will commence during Fiscal Year 2026, thus it is necessary to emergency appropriate all funding associated with this grant into the Fiscal Year 2026 budget so that the project may continue, under certain conditions as defined in the County’s Budget Policies.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Lake County and the City of North Chicago jointly applied for Community Project Funding for the site cleanup at Sheridan Crossing from Congressman Brad Schneider’s Office; and
WHEREAS, Lake County was notified on March 3, 2023, that our Community Project Funding was awarded through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); and
WHEREAS, on March 12, 2024, the Lake County Board authorized the appropriation of $4,000,000 in the Fiscal Year 2024 budget; and
WHEREAS, this project is still active, and the appropriation needs to be carried into the Fiscal Year 2026 budget so that the project can continue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the emergency appropriation is hereby authorized as detailed in the attached listing, which is hereby made a part of this resolution.
