Committee action authorizing Public Works staff to continue discussions with the Village of Round Lake regarding an emergency water interconnection.
Staff Summary
• Public Works has a capital improvement project planned for our Brooks Farm water system (Prairie Pointe Subdivision) that would entail painting the interior and exterior of the water tower and making improvements to our water treatment system that treats the well water supply.
• In order to make these improvements, the well system and water tower must be taken out of service for a period of approximately 60 days.
• Brooks Farm’s water system is directly adjacent to the Village of Round Lake’s water system. A preliminary discussion occurred between Public Works and Round Lake staff regarding a temporary water interconnection and the Village’s willingness to supply water.
• Staff is seeking authorization to continue discussions with Round Lake staff regarding the terms related to the provision of water through an interconnect, and a potential intergovernmental agreement.
