Staff Summary
· The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) formula grant funds for Program Year 2013 allocated to the Lake County Workforce Development Department will be reduced by $831,985 for a total grant of $3,895,291.
· The WIA formula grant funds include funding for adults, dislocated workers, incumbent workers, and youth programs.
· The WIA formula grant funds have a term of July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2015.
· Acceptance of the grant and reduction of the budget appropriation is required.

WHEREAS, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has provided a Program Year 2013 grant under the Workforce Investment Act to the Lake County Workforce Development Department which contains a reduction of $831,985 from the budgeted allocation included in the County FY2013 budget; and
WHEREAS, the total grant for Lake County Workforce Development is $3,895,291, and
WHEREAS, this grant is for July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2015, and will be used to provide funding for adults, dislocated workers, incumbent workers and youth programs; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to approve a reduction in the Workforce Development Department appropriation of $831,985 and to authorize acceptance of this grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that a reduction in the Workforce Development Department appropriation of $831,985 is hereby approved and that the Workforce Investment Act Grant in the amount of $3,895,291 be accepted. A chart of accounts is attached.
