Body
WHEREAS, the County Clerk’s office was notified by the State Board of Elections in 2011 that a grant is available for improvements consistent with Title III requirement of the Help America Vote Act for Federal Elections; and
WHEREAS, funds in the amount of $747,907.00 were allocated to Lake County for Title III HAVA requirements; and
WHEREAS, Section 251 HAVA Requirement funds are to be used to improve the administration of elections in Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the County previously received reimbursements through this grant for budgeted maintenance expenses on voting equipment totaling $606,617; and
WHEREAS, the remaining expenditures and reimbursements totaling $141,290 are unbudgeted in FY2012; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to appropriate the remainder of these funds for HAVA programs, equipment and materials needed by the County Clerk as these are identified; and
WHEREAS, the funds will be submitted to the State Board of Elections for reimbursement as they are spent;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that an emergency appropriation in the amount of $141,290 in the FY 2012 Corporate Capital Improvement Program for County Clerk HAVA activities is hereby authorized (account code 101-1103260-79950-000-000-000-21010; and 101-1103260-45334-000-000-000-21010).
