Staff Summary
* Lake County desires to enter into contracts for youth programs with qualified providers to service In-School and Out-of-School youth under the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
* Lake County extended requests for proposal to 26 providers and received ten sealed proposals from nine service providers.
* The Workforce Development Board Selection Review Committee recommends and the Workforce Development Board agrees that the awards be made to six service providers that offered favorable proposals that meet the diverse needs of the student populations to be served.
* Two In-School Youth Programs contracts are recommended to Zion Benton High School's, Jobs for Bees, Zion, Illinois, in the amount of $74,998.15 to service 20 youth, and Waukegan High School's, SHINE Educational Leadership Program, Waukegan, Illinois, in the amount of $74,995.95 to service 17 youth.
* Five Out-of-School Youth Programs contracts are recommended to Waukegan High School's, Pharmacy Tech Program, Waukegan, Illinois, in the amount of $194,267.19 to service 30 youth, Youth Build Lake County, North Chicago, Illinois, for $109,348.78 to service 25 youth, First Institute Training and Management, Inc., Crystal Lake, Illinois, for $195,162.33 to service 23 youth, Business & Career Services, Arlington Heights, Illinois, for $66,542.19 to service 12 youth, and Youth Conservation Corps, Waukegan, Illinois, in the amount of $107,231.00 to serve 10 youth.
* Contracts are not to exceed $822,549.59 and will be funded through the County's allocation of federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funds.
