Report to Committee on Forest Lake Water System Compliance Commitment Plan.
Staff Summary
• The IEPA performed an engineering evaluation of the County’s Forest Lake water system and based on this evaluation the County received a violation notice citing system deficiencies.
• The Forest Lake Water System is a small County owned and operated water distribution system delivering well water to 71 homes on the northeast corner of Forest Lake, adjacent to Old McHenry Road.
• The Department has proposed and the IEPA has accepted a Compliance Commitment Agreement (CCA) with a schedule to achieve full system compliance.
• Per the CCA the County was required to submit our proposed engineering plan by December 15, 2009 outlining recommended system improvements.
• The Department has retained Manhard Consulting to develop a report to investigate options and costs to achieve compliance and initial information was reviewed with Committee at the December 2, 2009 meeting.
• The Department will review the options and discuss the recommended plan of action with Committee for direction to proceed.
