Staff Summary
· On September 7, 2009, Lake County received program approval and award notification for Lake County’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program (EECBG) as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in the amount of $5,658,700.
· One program area for EECBG funding is the Lake County Energy Retrofit Program, including the Administrative Tower Chiller Retrofits with an allocation of funding in the amount of $800,000.
· Bids were called for by publication for an Upgrade of the Central Cooling Plant, Invitations for Bids were extended to twenty nine (29) contractors, and ten (10) sealed bids were received and Monaco Mechanical Inc, Lisle IL is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in the amount of $1,443,000.
· Other bids received ranged from $1,480,000 to $1,780,000.
· The upgrade will serve the Administrative Tower, Court Complex and the Annex Building.
· This project will reduce energy usage and save energy cost while advancing required infrastructure replacements within County facilities.
· This contract will cost $1,443,000 charging $800,000 to the EECBG account #101-1103910-82020-000-000-000-00000 and $663,000 to the Facility Assessment account #101-1103285-82020-000-000-000-00000.
