Title

Joint resolution authorizing execution of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the Teamsters Local Union 700, as exclusive representative of the Correctional Sergeants bargaining unit of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Staff Summary

•                     The changes requested are a result of an interest arbitration award.

•                     Under the award, wages will be increased in the following manner: 12/1/2010 - 0%; 12/1/2011 - 2.5%; 12/1/2012 - 2.0%.

•                     The shift preference language was changed to make seniority the determining factor.

•                     The CBA shall be effective for a three year period from December 1, 2010 through November 30, 2013.

Body

WHEREAS, the Teamsters Local Union 700 has been recognized as the sole and exclusive bargaining agent for Correctional Division Sergeants employees of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office; and

WHEREAS, a Collective Bargaining Agreement has been negotiated with the Teamsters Local Union No. 700, as the exclusive representative of the Correctional Division Sergeants employees of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, consistent with the Illinois Public Labor Relations Act; and

WHEREAS, your Law and Judicial and Financial and Administrative Committees have reviewed and approved said agreement.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this County Board of Lake County, Illinois, that the Chairman of the Board and the Sheriff are hereby authorized to sign the Collective Bargaining Agreement attached hereto and made a part of this Resolution.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Agreement shall be effective from December 1, 2010 through November 30, 2013
