· This is a state grant administered through the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs where funding is generated by the Illinois Veterans Scratch lottery tickets.
· Dental assistance is already provided by the Veterans Assistance Commission, however the additional grant revenue will allow the Superintendent to expand the number of veterans able to benefit from this service.
· Program funding includes IDVA Grant Funds for $50,000 associated with Revenue Account 208-3700010-45333-000-000-000-00000 and Expense Account 208-3700010-71340-000-000-000-00000.

WHEREAS, the Veterans Assistance Commission (VAC) of Lake County has been approved for a one-time grant totaling $50,000.00 from the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs (IDVA) to provide addition funding assistance to veteran's of Lake County for dental services; and
WHEREAS, the VAC of Lake County currently provides general assistance to veterans through its budgeted Assistance to Veterans account; and
WHEREAS, additional funding is necessary to meet the demonstrated need for dental services for Lake County veterans; and
WHEREAS, the IDVA has extended a one-time grant agreement through August 31, 2010 to assist with this need, with no requirement of matching county funds; and
WHEREAS, the VAC has established guidelines for the proper distribution of funds and payment of dental services; and
WHEREAS, an emergency appropriation is necessary to formally accept this grant agreement; and
