Joint resolution authorizing acceptance of the 2011 Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance grant awards.
Staff Summary
· On October 11, 2011, the County Board authorized application for HUD’s Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance competitive grant program.
· Lake County received notice that it has been awarded $1,912,968 from this grant program.
· Community Development will administer $803,190 of the award (9 projects), the Health Department will administer $365,736 (2 projects), and the remaining amount of $744,042 (7 projects) will be administered directly by authorized agencies (see provided attachment).
· This resolution authorizes: 1) acceptance of the homeless assistance grant award; and 2) execution of the necessary subrecipient agreements.

WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development made available $1.63 billion through a nationwide competition for assistance to homeless individuals and families through its Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance Program; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Board previously approved a resolution on October 11, 2011 to authorize the chairman to execute the necessary documents to submit an application for the 2011 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance Program; and
WHEREAS, Lake County received notification from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in December 2011 awarding $1,912,968 through the 2011 Continuum of Care Homeless Assistance Program, $803,190 of which will be administered by Lake County, $365,736 administered by the Health Department, and the remaining amount, $744,042 will be administered directly by the respective agencies.
