* The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has banned the use of the Geodimeter Total Station currently used by LCDOT.
* LCDOT is replacing the Geodimeter Total Station with a Trimble S6 Total Station to comply with the FCC requirements and for its compatibility with existing Trimble survey equipment.
* LCDOT has a long standing successful relationship with Precision Midwest, Warrenville, Illinois, as the appointed vendor for sales of Trimble total stations in this area.
* Pursuant to Article 6, Section102 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the Purchasing Agent consulted with an ad hoc review group that approved a bid exemption on the basis of an existing long standing, successful relationship and appointed vendor for procuring Trimble equipment.

Body
WHEREAS, LCDOT must replace the Geodimeter Total Station as the result of an FCC ruling which banned its use; and

WHEREAS, LCDOT plans to purchase a Trimble S6 Total Station from Precision Midwest, Warrenville, Illinois, at an estimated cost of $35,095; and

WHEREAS, LCDOT has a long standing successful relationship with Precision Midwest, Warrenville, Illinois, the appointed vendor for sales of Trimble total stations in this area; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with Article 6, Section 102 of the Lake County Purchasing Ordinance, the Purchasing Agent consulted with an ad hoc review group that approved a bid exemption on the basis of an existing long standing, successful relationship and the appointed vendor for procuring Trimble equipment.
